The keel laying and coin ceremony for the second coastal multifunctional unit (MTC–MTF) took place at the Piombino Industrie Marittime (PIM) shipyards.
This fundamental first milestone marks a new and significant advancement in the construction program for the two Multipurpose Coastal Units (MTC–MTF), commissioned by the Italian Navy and built by T. Mariotti S.p.A. – Shipyard, a company of the Genova Industrie Navali S.p.A. Group, at our Piombino Industrie Marittime shipyard. The traditional coin ceremony between Admiral Giuseppe Sica, Umberto Bisagno, Marco Ghiglione, and Tommaso Ghiglione—an auspicious symbol sealing the union between owner and shipyard—was accompanied by the start of the first structural welding on the first keel block, officially marking the beginning of the unit’s construction.
