Piombino Industrie Marittime will build the dock gate that will replace the one currently in operation in the largest dry dock in the Mediterranean: Forme 10 at the Port of Marseille.
The client will be Chantier Naval de Marseille, a company belonging to the Genova Industrie Navali Group. This investment (worth approximately 13 million euros) will also lead to an extension of the concession for the ship repair hub in the French port.
“It took three years to obtain all the necessary authorisations, but the shipyard is now finally ready to begin operations,” stated Ferdinando Garrè, CEO of San Giorgio del Porto and the Genova Industrie Navali Holding, “and with this important first order, we are getting them underway.”
The new structure, which will weigh over 1,500 tonnes, will have a length of 85 metres, a width of 15 metres, and a depth of 15 metres. It will take approximately one year to complete construction and reach delivery.
