Following the signing of the replacement concession agreement, here are the statements from Engineer Mulas:
“A new chapter is opening for the port of Piombino. The health emergency is putting companies working in the shipbuilding sector under severe strain. The fact that the signing of this document has been achieved at such a critical juncture as the one we are currently experiencing is proof of the great attention paid by the Administrations. This is a highly important initiative that has been a long time coming, and it marks an absolute milestone for the full establishment of our operations.”
Only a few months ago, the company obtained the activation of the AIA (Integrated Environmental Authorisation) to carry out shipbuilding, ship repair, and demolition activities, thus completing the authorisation process for the concessions necessary to carry out the works outlined in the Investment Plan.
“We have never stopped working,” stated Mulas, “and we have carried forward the works outlined in the Plan, resolving electricity supply issues, completing the construction of the process water collection and treatment system, and starting construction work on an initial shed 120 metres long and 30 metres wide, pending the completion of the link road that will make the shipyard independent in terms of road access.”
